The Parramatta Female Factory is one of Australia’s most significant women’s heritage places. Thousands of convict women and children passed through this site. Their lives shaped families, communities, and the Australian story, yet for too long many of their names, struggles, skills, griefs, and achievements were forgotten.
Parramatta Female Factory Friends exists to protect the site, research the women, welcome visitors, support descendants, educate the public, and advocate for the recognition this place deserves.

Every donation, large or small, helps us:
- preserve and promote the history of the Parramatta Female Factory
- support female convict research and descendant enquiries
- maintain the Parramatta Female Factory Friends Research Centre
- care for the Babette Smith Collection and other research resources
- develop tours, talks, workshops, exhibitions, and education material
- advocate for proper conservation, interpretation, and recognition of the site
