There is now a NEW way to travel to the Parramatta Female Factory from Parramatta Railway Station. The Parramatta Light Rail offers a service from Parramatta Square to Ngara Station is only 100 metres from the Parramatta Female Factory. By Train

Alight at Parramatta Railway Station (northern side) – walk to Parramatta Square for the light rail to Ngara light rail stop.

You can also alight at Westmead Railway Station (northern side) – walk to Westmead for the light rail to the Ngara light rail stop.

By Ferry

F3 Ferry which you can catch from Circular Quay to Parramatta and catch the free bus to Parramatta Leagues Club to alight there and walk.

By car

No parking on the site, please park in Fleet St or O’Connell St Carpark

Visiting the Parramatta Female Factory Friends Rooms

If you wish to visit the Parramatta Female Factory Friends, we are now located (since August 2022) in Francis Greenway designed 1821 Matron’s Quarters and Administration Building.

The entry is found walking down the pedestrian avenue between the Matron’s Quarters and Administration Building, which should be on your left and on the right is the Francis Greenway designed 1821 Female Factory Hospital. When we are open, we will have our signage and a way-finder flag outside the entrance door.

Inside you will see a Visitors sign in book (mandatory for all visitors) as you walk into the Parramatta Female Factory Friends Display Room and where we various items for sale. The Gordon Tea Room serves tea and coffee with refreshments whenever we have General Meetings every second month, Talks and Events (which are all posted on Facebook).

Through the archway from the Friends Display Room is the Parramatta Female Factory Friends Research Centre and Babbette Smith Library Collection. This is where we hold a large collection of books specific and ancillary to Female Convict Research. You will find both computers and microfiche readers with Research volunteers to assist in your research.

The pathway between the two palms leads you to the entrance of the Parramatta Female Factory Rooms.
